About Danielle Scott
Danielle Scott, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, etched her name in history as the sole American indoor volleyball player to grace five Olympic Games (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012). Her illustrious career included appearances in four FIVB World Cups, three FIVB World Championships, and 11 FIVB World Grand Prix tournaments. Joining the USA National team full-time in 1994, following her NCAA title and Player of the Year honors in 1993 at Long Beach State, marked the inception of her international journey. Retiring from international play in 2014, Danielle garnered many accolades throughout her illustrious path, including Best Blocker, MVP, and Best Scorer awards. Her influence extended beyond the court; she carried the torch at the World Universities and was the flag bearer at the 2007 Pan American Games.
Despite a hiatus in 2010 to have her daughter Juliánné, Danielle made a triumphant return to the National team, securing her fifth Olympic appearance at 39 and clinching her second consecutive silver medal. Her contributions to the sport have been duly recognized with inductions into seven Hall of Fames, including the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2016, the 2019 Louisiana State Sports Hall of Fame, and the 2021 USAV Hall of Fame.
Danielle‘s passion for volleyball extends beyond her competitive days; she now channels her expertise into coaching, mentoring, and spearheading efforts to establish America’s first community-based Professional Volleyball League, LOVB.
