About Chandler Matkins
Chandler is an independent Brooklyn, New York-based artist best known for his viral, TikTok smasher Hot Pocket a collaboration with critically-acclaimed producer Matty Beats that amassed over 4.5 million views on the preliminary duet video. Originally from Virginia — the 757 — he grew up on the likes of Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Pusha T, Missy Elliott and more. This garnered a love for the wide variety of sub-genres within rap and hip-hop. He began writing lyrics at the age of thirteen and never put the pen down. He stopped putting out his solo work publicly in 2014 to pursue an education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and a career with a rock band, Big Mama Shakes, as their manager and drummer. During his time in that role, he played on bills that featured acts like Shelley FKA DRAM, Dirty Heads, The Knocks, etc. That band has been mentioned in The Huffington Post and The Chicago Tribune. He toured through the east coast and midwest with that group for 4+ years. In 2018, Chandler left the group and relocated to take on the city. Chandler returned to his solo work in 2021 with a hell of a lot of releases planned. 165K Followers, 3M Likes and 15M Views on TikTok.
